Heritage City Delhi: Delhi has amazing heritage pertaining to Palaeolithic, Neolithic, Late Harappan, Buddhist, Ashokan, Kushan, Pre-Sultanate, Sultanate, Khiljis, Tughlaks, Sayyids, Lodis, Mughals, and British times. Now two types of Delhi – imperial capital city Shahjahanabad built by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan (1639-48), and city by British colonial government – are discernible. The vibrant city is a bustling metropolis with remains of a thousand years of building.

Strong historical background makes Delhi a treasure trove of history and culture; also a heritage city with universal value. Many powerful emperors in Indian history ruled Delhi. Delhi in Mahabharata times was known as Indraprastha where Pandavas lived.

C. The Tomar dynasty founded modern Delhi in early 8th century. Delhi, officially the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, is a union territory of India, adjacent to the fortified city of Tomar Rajputs, Lal Kot, founded in 1060AD.
