Quad reiterates commitment for a secure and stable Indo-Pacific

On May 26, 2026, the 11 th Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting was held in New Delhi in which Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, and the United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio participated. The meeting was convened at a time when geopolitical tensions, particularly in the West Asian region, have resulted in uncertain global security architecture, disruptions in the global supply chain, vulnerability of critical sea lanes and posing risks to the uninterrupted flow of commerce.

Quad recognized that these factors entail significant strategic connotations for the Indo-Pacific and that addressing the security challenges callfor a coordinated, agile, and forward-looking responses. Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar categorically mentioned this aspect in his opening remarks: “Our focus will clearly be on the Indo- Pacific which is the specific remit of the Quad.

At the global level, we have to address issues like supply chain resilience, connectivity chokepoints, manufacturing and resource concentrations, and gaps in critical infrastructure. ” In this context, Quad further strengthened the mechanisms to enhance Indo-Pacific security.
